According to the British Egyptologist, Andrew Chugg, in the Tomb lies Olympias, mother of Alexander the Great.

This assumption is derived through the fact that Amphipolis' rosettes are similar to the ones decorating the gold coffin found in the Tomb of Philip II and the Sphinxes were a symbol of Macedonian queens from the late fourth century B.C.

Olympias? death was cruel, as a penalty for all the cruel executions she has ordered. As so she was executed by Cassander, who condemned her without hearing and sentenced her to death by stoning in 316 BC.
